Creativity and Community
How to creatively maintain and establish communities remains a challenge. Until recently the road to monetary profit provided a clear, uncluttered, well-worn route that supported the creation of a life-style, a legacy, some semblance of material stability in our lives. The essence of the non-profit sector is the creation of programs and services to benefit others ( the community-at-large and those less fortunate or able) by religious groups, arts and educational institutions, agencies and other orgs. Non-profits like commercial businesses must earn their monetary support. Their sources include grant contracts to provide specific public programs and services, earned income from the sale of services or goods and contributions from individuals and businesses to support activities that benefit the community.
